Welcome to my Stonehenge Pottery Blog.  We'll have the latest news here, keeping you up to date on all that's happening around the Pottery, Classes and Workshops.

Our next weekender course will be on Saturday 27th Ocotber 2018 and Saturday 3rd November 2018. Our weekender course consists of two Satruday morning sessions, from 10am till 12.30pm. Within these sessions you will see the whole process of pottery, including throwing and turning on the wheel, hand-building, decorating and glazing. I will fire the pieces in between sessions for their first firing and once they are decorated, following the second morning, i will glaze fire them. You can then come and collect your two finished pieces at your earliest convenience. Since its getting quite chilly the wood burning fire will be lit and i provide cake, tea and coffee throughout each session to keep the inspiration flowing. The weekender course cost is £85 per person. This is payable as an initial deposit of £40 and then a final payment of £45. I have already had good interest in this course so get in touch if you are interested and i can email you a booking form. Look forward to seeing you in October!

We've had a really wonderful time running a series of workshops for the Stonehenge Visitor Centre. We decided to base it around the very real vision of a mum handing her child a piece of clay to play with while she built her pots. We encouraged everyone to use everything at their disposal - twigs, stones and any unsual textures they could find to make their own impressions on the clay. Really beautiful pieces of work came out as an end result - see the photos below.

Sarah's slightly indisposed as we speak due to an injury but she's recovering fast and we're doing our best to keep normal service running as far as possible. Workshops are running as planned and we look forward to seeing everyone in this glorious summer that's arriving.

We've had some beautiful results with the latest experiments for Easter decorations and all manner of other creations in our inspiring Thursday workshops.

I'm pleased to announce that we've got a fantastic Family Weekender coming up in June, at £65 per person for two Saturday mornings of complete immersion in all things clay. Hand-building and wheel techniques will be taught, along with a chance to experiment with hand-painting and glazing techniques. Suitable for ages 10 - 99.

We've also got our new Summer Term Thursday day time and evening workshops starting on 27th April, so book now to get involved. We're trying a new, broader split-term format, learning primarily earthenware techniques in the first half term and stoneware techniques in the second half of the term. If you're late starting, no problem - contact us by email to find out about availability. Have a great week and enjoy the Spring sun!

A wonderful Weekender Class finished, and what fun! All the students managed to create both a hand-built piece and a wheel thrown work of art. A lovely group, great fun and great makes. All in all it's proven to be an extremely rewarding format which works well for everyone.

Have a great weekend,

Sarah

Brighten up those February blues & DO something new! Why not try an "introduction to ceramics" weekend course? The last few places are available on our Pottery Weekender Course on 25th February & 4th March .... create your own thrown-down masterpieces! Throw your own bowl on the pottery wheel, slip decorate a hand-built tea lantern and learn a whole lot. If you want something less prescriptive, we can cater for that, too. Very excited about seeing our new faces! Call on 01980 620328 (leave a message with your number if we don't answer) or email on stonehengepottery@btinternet.com.
